Get Flexy with Janet!

For the next 3 months, Janet’s going to be hosting a Zoom Mobility Class every First and Third Thursday of the Month starting at 5:30, ending 6:20p latest.

Mobility class is an opportunity to work on techniques and exercises to regain and retain the range of motion you need to excel in the gym and life. Expect to see stretches and mobility exercises that may be familiar from the gym, plus a whole lot of deeper self-massage work that we would never have time for in a normal class session. What not to expect: an hour of static stretching. There’s no problem with doing an extended hammy stretch while zoning out on your phone – but this class is going to take an active approach that will require just as much engagement as a normal gym session. A foam roller and a lacrosse ball or tennis ball are optional but highly recommended.

Why the 1K Row for January?

I hate to break it to you, fam, but we’re (a little) out of shape.  We’re not a disaster, but can anyone say their fitness career is peaking right now? On a Tuesday night between Christmas and New Year’s?  OK, I didn’t think so.  Now, you and I neither one are at the same level of fitness we were in March and rowing is the perfect metabolic conditioner at the moment for both of us. It’s a virtually injury free, full body workout that gives you real time feedback on your level of intensity the whole time, helping you consciously choose your pacing.  And of rowing workouts, the 1K really is great.  It’s not so short that you can red-line it the whole time, but it’s not so long that you can zone out.  It demands your attention and intention the whole time. The best things about it are

  • THE MORE YOU DO IT THE BETTER YOU GET AT IT
  • IT MAKES YOU BETTER AT LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE
