Here we go!
Not having any further guidance from the mayor’s office, we’re moving forward with outdoor only workouts! And unless I hear otherwise from the city, we’ll be providing an open gym format for you soon – one that’s designed to get you in and out for the parts of your workout or skill practice that require a rig, a format that complies with the city’s regulations, protects you from COVID-19, and adds 20lbs to your back squat.
Allyn can do it, Sir Richard can do it, and so can you!
This might be just the thing you need to spice up your life. It’s supposed to be nice through Monday, with a chance of rain tomorrow morning. Anytime a class is canceled due to weather you’ll get an email about it.
As a reminder, membership includes access to the Tuesday and Thursday Zoom WODs, the “At Home” anytime workouts in SugarWOD (including daily Mobility WODs from Kelly Starrett), and unlimited access to the Outdoor Bootcamps.
Those Outdoor Bootcamps aren’t just all bodyweight all the time anymore. While bodyweight exercises form the base of our Bootcamp workouts, you might see resistance bands, kettlebells, etc. Tonight, for example, I brought dumbells and we did Dumbbell Sumo Deadlift High Pulls, Single-Arm Dumbbell Muscle Snatches, and the “I didn’t think it would be so hard” Overhead Dumbbell Carry. The Bootcamps are no joke! We’re always doing great accessory work in those workouts.
Please bear with us as we navigate this new territory. After all, these regulations came out Monday.
More to come!
P.S. As the air gets drier, your hands will need more protection from the elements to keep from getting torn up. I stocked up on a few of my favorite anti-rip, anti-callous, gloves to sell at the gym ($25 in case you need a pair). If you get some from the gym or anywhere else, be sure to get ones that fit tightly.
I also recommend, when the weather gets colder, wearing layers. Start with a wicking, full-length Spandex pant and shirt next to your skin. Then put on your regular or long-sleeved Athletic wear, and finally a Sweatshirt and sweat pants.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
